2024 Online Summer Program
CLCT has developed a series of introductory law classes for high school and university students. This program gives students the opportunity to experience classes in the comfort of their homes using an interactive video conferencing platform. Classes last from 4 to a maximum of 14 hours and are designed for students who are keen to explore what studying law entails, and for those who have a passion for government studies.
Classes are aimed at high school and university students aged 14 & above. If you are younger, please feel free to contact us. We may be able to assist you.
Introduction to Law and the U.S. Legal System
June 24-27, 2024 – Session I

“Intro to Law” discusses what law is, how it is made, and how it is changed. This highly interactive and thought-provoking class addresses how the American legal system really works. At its end, students will better understand how to read and interpret statutes and court opinions.
- Emphasizes logical thinking, analysis, and writing;
- Provides the tools necessary to understand what law is and how it is changed; and
- Explains the interaction between legislature and courts; Includes the writing of a basic legal memorandum of law.
For 26 years, this program was the core of William & Mary Law School’s introductory week for new law students. It is especially valuable for those considering or planning to go to law school.
This class encompasses 14 hours of lecture and class discussion. Class preparation requires assigned readings and at the end of the program writing a basic legal memorandum.

Introduction to Artificial Intelligence & Rising Legal Issues
JULY 10-11, 2024

Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies have made remarkable strides in the past few years as companies begin integrating advanced AI-powered features into their products. However, machine-learning-based systems, which are the heart of most AI systems today, introduce new risks that are different from classical programming systems. Open to all curious-minded students (no prior technical background is required!), the following introduction to AI class will cover the fundamentals of AI and machine-learning-based systems. Then, students will evaluate the differing benefits and risks of machine learning and classical programming systems. Afterward, the class will go through the overview of legal issues arising from AI technologies, including copyright, due process, and privacy rights. Finally, the course will conclude with a discussion on how society should appropriately approach using this technology.
Introduction to Search & Seizure
JULY 8 – 9, 2024 — $275
1:00 PM to 5:00 PM (EDT)
The course covers key aspects of how the Fourth Amendment governs law enforcement’s ability to search and seize. Topics will include:
- The warrant and probable cause requirements of the Fourth Amendment; and
- Exceptions including consent, border searches, emergency searches, stop and frisk, and searches incident to a lawful arrest.
This class will encompass 8.5 hours of instruction, which include lecture and class discussion.
